Thank you for investigating this issue. I just found out my son’s high school uses Panorama. Will opt out of all SEL surveys going forward and have begun to spread the word about Panorama already to my friends in the district.
Just found out my daughters middle school in Ohio is doing a mental health survey, I requested a copy of the survey and sure enough it is a panorama survey!! Unreal!!
That is absolutely outrageous that this has been allowed to proceed and not been stopped immediately! Merrick should be removed from his position and charges filed against him for collusion
Unfortunately, the comments throughout this seem to be based in fear and paranoia. Schools and school districts are constantly bombarded with request from parents to support them and their children with their social, emotional, behavioral and mental health. Using screeners to support students takes the guess work out of the best way to support them. Opting out as a parent from anything is the school system is always a parent right. I just sincerely hope that you all are considering all student and all parents when you bash district efforts to best support students and families. OR and this is a big or, stop asking schools to support the whole child, you can't have it both ways. And again, consider all students and families when choosing a course, not all students and families have access to resources outside of school.
You are very naive and uninformed. perhaps if you did any research you would find that Panorama had 5000 schools using their system in 2015. Furthermore instead of making insinuations, false narratives and link other persons at panorama to the information you post.... you would find an example of a direct interview...BTW it took a few seconds to find this article..

Asra, have you consulted an attorney with knowledge about FERPA law? The school official exception is not some conspiracy orchestrated by Big Tech.... It has limits based on usage and limits the transmission of protected information to subcontractors. You suggest some conspiracy with Facebook based solely on its investment in the Company? Does that mean that Emmett Shear and his ties to Twitch/Amazon are in bed with Substack? Is this blog Big Tech, by your logic? Before riling up conservative America, please do your research! Also, any educator can tell you that (a) data SHOULD drive student learning and that (b) social and emotional intelligence is absolutely critical to student academic performance, so I see no problem with data that evaluates social and emotional learning.
